“After high school I worked full-time as an electrician while attending HCC. The educational experience gave me confidence, and opened my eyes to what I could achieve.”

— Victor Fernandez, 1980 HCC Graduate

I enrolled at HCC in 1979, unsure of what kind of college student I would be. I was an apprentice electrician and worked full-time. The small classes and attentive professors at HCC gave me the confidence I needed to aim higher. I matriculated to The University of Tampa before graduating from HCC earning a B.S., in Business Management and minors in both English and History. I have spent 32 years in tech and telecommunications industries with long stints at IBM, ATT, MCI and now Verizon.

HCC served as the entry portal for a “life shift” that changed my career and my life’s trajectory. I have a great deal of empathy for students who work full-time while trying to raise a family. HCC offers low tuition rates and flexible hours that working students need.
