“HCC changed my life and perspective.”

— George Polanco, Hope Scholar, HCC Honors Institute graduate

HCC Alumni Give Back Every Day.

When George received a Hope Scholarship to HCC, he was the first in his family to attend college and a little unsure of his direction. Soon he joined the Student Government Association and unlocked his leadership potential. A faculty member suggested that George apply for the Honors Institute to put his academic and leadership talents to work.

“I started looking above and beyond my circumstances and realized I could do more,” said George. “I gained a sense of community.” Grateful for the scholarship and college experience that changed his life, today he pursues a bachelor’s degree and gives back to his community through volunteer service.

George is just one of the alumni who continue to make a difference in his community after attending HCC. The Foundation puts alumni together with potential employers, mentors, and fellow alums to create a network of engaged, empowered individuals with an affinity for the college. The Foundation also connects with retired faculty and staff for reunions and creates the opportunity for students to continue to receive their expertise and mentorship.
