Meet star tennis player Fabiola Candal Ranalli, another Everyday Champion.
Fabiola has been playing tennis since she was just four years old, following in the footsteps of her father who is an avid tennis player in their home country of Venezuela. When she was offered the opportunity to study and play tennis for HCC, she knew she couldn’t let it pass her by. The college’s celebrated tennis program coupled with small class sizes and competitive academics helps Fabiola flourish as an athlete and a student. Fabiola is ranked 24th in the nation and she credits her success to the support she receives from her coaches and teammates. After HCC, she plans to attend a four-year university to study sports journalism.
But being separated from her family for long periods of time has not been easy for Fabiola. Because of Venezuela’s unstable political climate, her family has not been able to obtain the documents necessary to leave the country. She is grateful that her HCC family is always there for her, keeping her grounded and motivated.
You may not know that HCC hosts hundreds of students and student athletes from all over the world, many of them escaping an environment rife with political chaos. Sometimes the unexpected occurs and funds are suddenly unavailable, making it difficult for them to stay in school.
Making a donation today ensures that all of our student athletes can realize their dreams. Click on the “Give” button in the left column to make your gift. We hope you will be generous, and don’t forget, Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan will make a dollar for dollar match for any gift $50 and over!
