More than a third of HCC’s students are first generation, those who are the first in their family to attend college. The Pew Research Center recently published a study on this student population, and among some of the challenges they face is that they are more likely to incur education debt, and greater amounts of it, than those students with a college-educated parent. The First Generation Scholarship Fund at HCC will help make sure our students do not have a debt burden, but we will need generous community support to reach our goal.
